The Virtue of Fasting on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah — The Day of ‘Arafah
The 9th of Dhul Hijjah, known as the Day of ‘Arafah, is among the most blessed days of the year. For those not performing Hajj, fasting on this day is a highly recommended Sunnah filled with immense reward and mercy from Allah ﷻ.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.”
— Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1162
This sacred day is an opportunity to renew our faith, increase in duʿāʾ, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to Allah through fasting, dhikr, and sincere repentance.
We warmly invite you to break your fast with the Islamic Center of East Brunswick community and share in the blessings of this beautiful evening. Families are encouraged to bring a dish to share as we gather together in gratitude, unity, and remembrance of Allah ﷻ.
May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our sins, and allow us to witness the blessings of Dhul Hijjah.
